OEM Clutch Lifespan
OEM Clutch Lifespan
I have 117K on a 92 150 with a T-18. What kind of Life should I reasonably expect from the old girl (Clutch)?
95% city driving and I tow a small boat a couple times a week.
It doesn't slip, although it's a little grabby sometimes in 1st when starting out. I have this buring desire to replace it, but why if it's still got it.
I did a search, but didn't really find what I was looking for.

I think you have gotten a lot more miles out of an OEM clutch then most do..... How much longer it'll go, all depends on how you use it, and if it's gone 117k miles already, you are doing something right!!
Since the average 'clutch job' is around $500.00 or so (at least that's what it cost me when I had a clutch job on my ol' Mustang GT some time ago...) I'd just wait until it starts acting up or slips.....
Sounds like you are a 'natural' at manual transmissions! I only got 70k out of that Mustang clutch......

It's really hard to say. The older trucks had a large cover under the flywheel that could be removed and you could look under there and actually see how thick the disc was. But progress has taken on a new meaning. The only advantages of replacing it early would be you wouldn't chew up the flywheel when the disc gets worn down to the rivets and your truck wouldn't be down at a bad time. Personally I run mine until I have a problem. Good luck with whatever you decide.

My 92 bronco went 60K before a cracked bellhousing let it fill with water while stuck in traffic in 2foot of snow ruining everything.
Our 97 is almost at 100K and still on the stocker. We use it hard haulin too. Just slips a little bit, but the 97+ are MUCH harder to change, so it will spin on a little longer.
