Rear end?

How can i tell the ratio of my rear end? I have a '99 F-150 xlt flareside, extended cab, with the 4.6L, the owners manual has either the 3:08, or the 3:55, but it doesnt specify one, any advice?

Thanks again...josh

jack the truck up USE JACKSTANDS!!!...put a mark on the driveshaft and one on a rear wheel...spin the rear one revolution and count how many times the driveshaft goes around...3 and 1/2 times around =3:50's and 3and 3/4= 3.75 ...works with any ratio.. happy counting!...zap!

Or you could crawl under your truck and look at the diff tags.

Yeah, it is rather involved to open the driver's door and look at the sticker. I tried it once but strained my shoulder.

Zap-
It's sometimes referred to as 'humor'. And I must admit I enjoy dry, sarcastic wit. Well done, SJ!
