4wd on the Interstate at 75mph

I drive with my inside cluster on dim and therefore go by feel instead of actually looking at what I am trying to do. The other night I was going for the fan on the AC and turned my auto 4wd High instead. As soon as I saw the light and heard it engage i shut it off. Nothing leaking, shaking or squealing. Do ya think i hurt it? Maybe engaged for 3-5 seconds at 75 mph.

I have done the same thing several times and mine still works like new. I wouldn't worry about it.

Not at all trying to **** you off but did you learn a lesson?
Turn up the lighting so you can see what your doing and not risk a big repair bill for foolishness.
I cannot see my 4x4 control because the shift lever blocks the view and have to lean over to see it.
A poor location to be sure.
The ***** for it and the fan control feels the same to the touch.

4x4 in a bad location??? ive never missed it or anything so hows that bad?? i live in northern mn i have turned it on by accident and it lciked light came on and i turned it off many many times... it doesnt do anything. i also drive at over 60 all the time on the snowy highways which i kno will get a rise out of some people here but hey nothing has ever broke down on any of my trucks i have ever owned. As far as safty trust me im experienced since about 6-7 months we have snow and ice and all the other drivers are too so lets not start this whole fast safty issue. i just wanted to bring up the point that i do drive over 55 in 4wd all the time and my 4wd is in prime shape according to 2 dealerships i work between as a sales rep.

racerf150man,
I agree with you 100%. I live in Wisconsin and drive the same conditions as you do. I don't drive with the 4 wheel drive engage when I'm going down a snowcovered highway, but put it in whenever it needs to be. Doing 10 mph or 60 mph. I use 4 wheel in the city to get going from a stop faster, but once I'm cruising on the highway, I shut it off.

hey triton i got a stupid ? for you thats off the subject... since we live in pretty close to the same climate could you do me a favor? tomorrow when you take off in your truck can you look at the outside temp and tell me how long you have to drive til your temp needle starts to move? for some reason it just seems odd because i can drive from my house abou 1.2 mile to the highway then 5 miles on the highway with out it moving. the old thermostat took that long then i replaced it with the same temp one and it still does it!

I can't believe they don't have a safety on them to prevent the system from engaging over a certain speed...
