You do not have a 7.3 diesel with a 4r70w. There isn't even a bellhousing for the application.

It is an e4od. I do not know much about them besides the converters. Gregg Evans is the man to talk to on that transmission.

I will get the code read and let you know, I work for an International truck dealer as a diesel mechanic. I know everything about the engine but little about the trans. Just need to save a little money if possible, I bought it of the dealer I work for and they had trans rebuilt worked fine for a month and started doing the same thing again. I was kind of wondering if it had something to do with the overdrive switch or wiring. thanks

I had a transmission specialists road test my vehicle he told me the problem was most likely a TPS so I decided to put one on it was only 28.00. I guess you are suppose to calibrate it, I did not know that but I went ahead and put it on. It did not change anything so I took it to the local ford dealer in town which works on medium and heavy duty trucks. The technician said the only code in eec was code 23 for the TPS. I told them to go ahead and calibrate the sensor. He said he tried and the code still came back. They said maybe I got a bad sensor from Napa, so I am suppose to go back tomorrow and let them put a Ford replacement sensor on it. I looked at my sensor and noticed the technician damaged it trying to adjust the swivel bracket on the injection pump so now I am wondering if the guy even knew what he was doing. He didnt act interested in working on the vehicle and seemed unsure of himself. I have seen this look on a techs face before because I work with some like that. They are afraid to say that they are not sure on correct procedures. That is what I am in need of is the correct procedure for calibrating the TPS. I am going to make the dealership replace the damaged sensor but I would like to know the proper procedure before I go back. Thanks for any help

The proper procedure is to adjust it to have .48-.52 volts at idle. Use a multimeter and backprobe the connector. You can adjust it in 2 places. The bolts holding it on or the bracket either can move to get it right where you want it.

Thanks Alan problem solved, I took it back today and the tech put a new sensor on that wasnt jabbed with a screwdriver and the trans shifted properly. It also had a bad engine speed sensor which was causing a problem with the trans shifting 3-4 4-3 I replaced it myself and vehicle now drives great. thanks for the help. Mike
