Transmission Type ??????Help

Hello
I recently bought a 1998 F-150 4X4 4.6 Auto,
After reading the Hanes Shop Manual they talk about 2 types of automatic transmission's, How do you tell them apart?
I want to change the transmission oil and filter but I must find out whay type of tranny it is before I can buy the filter.
When its not fully warmed up you can feel the upshift between 70 klm's and 80 klm's, and I hopeing a filter and oil change will help! What about oil additives like Power-up , I have heard it will smooth out the shifting?
Any help would be appreciated???

Thanks
Ken F.

Count the pan bolts. The 4r70w has 14 and the 4r100/e4od has 20 ( I think)
