Can someone tell me the difference between the Hurst short throw shifters? There are 2 part numbers...5025 and 5026. Some say I need the 5025, and others tell me only the 5026 will work. My truck is a 1998 with the 4.2 V6 5 speed.

I believe the 1999-2003 F150's all use the 5026. However, there were different trannys for 1997 - 1998....some use the 5025 and others the 5026. You'll need to check the tag on your tranny and look at the code.

If your tranny code begins with "F" you need the 5025. If it begins with "X" you need 5026.
