auto to manual conversion...
Hi, I am seriously considering the purchase of a 98 f150 4X4 supercab with 5.4 liter V8. I need to know if a conversion to a manual transmission is possible? I am wondering what I might need and will I need to go to the f250 manual transmission?
Thanks for any information you might be able to provide, as automatics tend to get a little sloppy in when they hunt, and I am death to automatics.

If you use the M5OD from an F150 You will need: the clutch master, tubing from master to slave, slave. Flywheel from a Windsor 4.6, clutch pressure plate, disk and pilot bearing. If you use the ZF from a superduty you will need all of the above and the T-case from the Superduty. The ZF tranny will not bolt up to the F-150 T-case. You will also need to use the flywheel, pilot bearing and the clutch from a 250. You will need a chip to turn off the auto tranny functions. You will also need the trim peices like the shifter boot. The driveshaft will have to be shortened if you use the ZF combo and it might have to be modified for the other one too. Th transfercase adapter for the Automatic is different too. For what is is going to cost go find a 4.6 manual and drop a 5.4 in it.
