A good shift kit will shorten the shift duration, cause less slippage, and lengthen the life of the transmission. Make sure you know what you are getting not all shift kits are created equal.

Read up on that transgo before you buy it.
there are alot of problems with it.
Troyer also sells the factory tech valvebody.

I have the transgo kit in my 98,it did firm up the shift's but I wanted more.So I bought a Superchip's tuner to increase the line pressure and that helped out alot.

I've got the Transgo shift kit in my 2001 Supercrew 4x4 with a Kenne Bell supercharger and I have not had any problems; I've driven the truck very hard too. I have 70k miles on the kit FYI. One of the best upgrades and cheapest too!

I'm not going to argue with you. All I can say is read this http://www.tccoa.com/articles/tranny/index.html#
then find someone knowledgable on these transmission who agree's with you.
I deal with transmissions and transmission builders everyday. Not all transgo kits are bad. The AOD kit is the best I have found. The 4r70w/AODE kit is the worst.
Don't try to make the mods in that article to a truck transmission. They have a different valvebody and will bang gears hard of you do that to it. That setup is great on cars. Truck valvebodies require parts to be replaced that the normal person can't buy. Gregg Evans is the only person I know with the technology to properly build the truck valvebody. Any company claiming they do has just made at attempt at cloning his.

freak98,

It took about 10 hours to install the Kenne Bell; one of the easiest superchargers to install. It come with everything you need exept the Denso IT-20 spark plugs (needed for one heat range cooler).

Again, my experience with the Trango shift kit has been very positive. I did have Mike Troyer burn a custom chip for me this year. The combination of the shift kit and chip are excellent.
