Unhappy NO HELP HERE?? Replacing Ext. Housing Gasket On 4R70W

Hi Guys,

I have a bad leak at the ext. housing gasket (t-case-to-ext. housing)and am planning on replacing the gasket tomorrow.
I have a paper gasket from dealer, is any sealant needed for this? Helms manual isn't clear about it.

I will also be changing the fluid, filter & pan gasket.

Should I also replace the ext. housing seal since I'll have to disconnect the driveshaft in order to replace the leaky gasket?
If so, do I need a special tool for that?

Any other advice or suggestions in doing this job are appreciated since I've never done this job before.
Thanks.

If the rerar seal is not leaking do not touch it. If it is then you need a seal puller and a socket the diameter of the seal or the install tool tp pound the seal back in. You have to remove the output shaft speed sensor if equipped for the extendsion housing to come off. There is the electro magnetic clutch wire that comes out of the housing. take care with that. The 2000 manual says to use a non acid sylicone sealant on the joint. The bolt torque is 18 ft-lbs.
