Shift Kit questions

I am needing to change my transmission fluid and was thinking about putting in a shift kit at the same time. My questions are;

Waht are the pros and cons of istalling one?
(transmission damage, ect)
What brand and kind are the best?
How much to install one usually?
Possibility of doing it my self?

I am pretty handy with a wrench but I have never done any transmission work.

I would like the shifts firmness to be varied with the amount of throttle given.
(full throttle-harder shifts, part throttle-strong shifts, ect..)

Also my truck has 100,000 miles on it and would the transmission stand up to the harder shifts?

Tranny is a 4r70.
Am going to use redline fluid.

i would appreciate any advise also.

Brett

A computer chip would probably give you the results you are looking for. Any shift kit is going to make the shifts firmer all the time.

a shift kit will actualy make your tranny last longer, it will run cooler, less slipping in the spanner bands so those will last longer, the one i got i got from troyer performance, the factory teck valve body, it is more pricy than the average shift kit but all the work is done for you all you have to do is unbolt your old valve body and bolt in the new one change out your accumalator springs and that is it, it is an easy install, there are no cons that i can think of, it will feel like a diffrent truck

I'm glad someone has seen the difference in a transgo (means trans-go out) and a well built valvebody.
