Question Transmission Durability??

Hello All!

This is my first post so be gentle please
Im looking to buy a '98 150 Lariat, 4x4, super cab, 5.4. I know the engine is reliable as I owned a 99 Expy and it was a wonderful engine.

My question to you folks here is how reliable is the transmission and the Xfer case? What should I look for before buying this truck?

Is $12,500 a good price to pay? The truck is super clean and not a scratch/dent, and 85k on the odo.

Thanks in advance!!

SuMo

Well...$11,900 out the door...not a bad price if I say so myself. Tranny is E4OD....changing fluids tomorrow night. Diffs, xfer, and trans.

Wish me luck!!

$12,500 seems a little high even though it's a mint Lariat. 85K is up there though. Someone else will chime in about the transmission I'm sure.

Ooops, I just read that you already bought the truck LOL. I gotta stop scanning these threads and start reading them. Sorry, life is so hectic with school and work nowadays. No more time to enjoy reading about trucks anymore.

Good move with the negotiating the price down to 11,900 and changing fluids right away. Have fun with the new truck.

BTW, welcome to the board.
