5 speed manual shifter changeout

New to the do it yourself mechanic school of hard knocks. I want to replace my shifter with a new one. Wondering if anyone can tell me how hard it is, and how much expense is involved?
Thanks

Are you just replacing the upper shifter? If so just remove the boot, 4 screws and pull it up. You will see a nut on the bottom that you have to remove and put on the other end of the threaded rod. Then tighten it and it will pull the rod out. Remove the rod and pull up on the shifter.
