Tranny question

I have a stupid question. Does Ford charge to diagnose a transmission problem? I know that is a stupid question but wanted to be sure because a co-worker told me that Ford doesn't charge for diagnosing a tranny problem and that the only way to diagnose it would be to drive the vehicle around. I would think they have to hook it up on the NGS tester and run some diagnostics on it. I have a feeling that Ford is going to charge me to diagnose the problem. Sorry about posting a stupid question on here.

Not stupid ! A drive around the block and some advice may be free. A thorough diagnosis that involves any work performed will be for a fee if you're out of warranty.
