Shift Kit on V6 for fun?

I was wondering if it is appropriate to put a shift kit on my 2000 V6 (83,000 Miles). Ive read about the valve body kit and I was wondering if it is worthwhile to install one with 83k miles on my tranny. I'm not racing, basically driving in the city but i was just kinda of wanting to do something to my truck. If so, where can i get a valve body kit? Will the kit affect the lift of my tranny? Thanks for your alls imput

The answer to all of your questions is Yes. Yes it would be worth while to but a shift kit in your truck, and yes it will affect the life of your tranny, but more likely in a positive way. The slow soft easy shifts of a stock tranny is due to the cluthes being aloud to slip a bit before they engage. The crisp firm shift of a shift kit is due to the clutches slipping less and applying faster. Just like if you were to slip the clutch on a stick shift, the acceleration would be smooth and soft, but the resultant heat build up from the slipping clutch would shorten the life of the clutch material. As far as shift kits go, I have never had any problems with B&M. You can get them at any Auto Zone or Checkers\Schucks\Kreagan (depending on what part of the country you are from) I would go with the kind you have to put in the valve body, and not the electric one you tap into the sensors/solinoids.

I put one in every vehicle I buy that I can find one for. I hate slush shifting automatics. 95 5.8 gave you good info. They give your vehicle a whole new attitude.

I've never dealt with transgo before, but I'm sure they aren't much different than B&M when it comes to install. Basicly you drop the pan, pop the filter off (changing it would be a good idea right now too) unbolt a dozen or so bolts from the valve body, take the seaperator plate off, read the directions as to what springs need to be modified or changed out, see if any check ***** need to be removed or relocated, see if any holes in the seperator plate need to be modified for you application, put the seperator plate back on bolt the Valve body dack up (starting from the bolt closest to the center tighen the bolts in a circular pattern until you get to the out side bolts, will want a torque wrench as well) bolt the pan back on, refill with a few qts of tranny fluid, drive, enjoy , come back home check fluid to make sure it is still at the right level, wash hands, turn on computer, post your story one F150online so we can all hear how it went. Couldn't be any easier than that.
