2001 f-150 trans problem

Hi all,
This is my first time using this forum, so thanks in advance.
I have a 2001 F-150 super crew 4X2 with an automatic tranny and I have a problem. Yesterday the speedometer needle was jumping up and down, the Overdrive light was blinking and the Cruise would not stay on. After a few minutes of this it stopped on its own. I just had the 60,000 mile check done and all was good. I did not change the fluid. This started four days later. Also, when going from second to third gear it will sometime rev real high then go back to normal. This started two days after the check.
Any ideas??????

you could get the codes pulled from the pcm with a scanner if you have a autozone close they will do it for free if not it will cost like 70$ to get the codes pulled, sound like your tranny might be close to shot the spanner bands inside might be all worn out, this uasally causes the fluid to become burned, did the fliud look good? not burned smelling or discolered? you might have a blocage in one of your lines too

Thanks for the help. The fluid looks clean and it does not smell. I can't let it go, so tomorrow I'm bringing it in. I'll post the results.

Hey guys,
I got the answer to my shifting problems on my F-150. It was a VSS sensor in the differential. The bill will be $180.00 from my local dealer. I had other things like the pinion and rear cover seals changed to so the total will be about $400.00 in all. Thanks for all the help!
