ooops! Wrong Tranny fluid?

So I had to change my Shift solenoid pack today. Tranny shifts fine (better now) but is slipping now in DRIVE (slips less in 1 and 2 shifter gear manually shifting the gears).

I used Vavoline Dextron 3/Mercon is what it says on the bottle.

Did I use the wrong fluid? It's a 1990 F-150 Lariat E4OD tranny.

Help!!

That is the correct fluid for your E4OD.

Freak you got a '98...dmoc has a '90...dmoc go to Napa and ask for a bottle of Seafoam "Trans-Med"...This will loosen up your solinoids..they are probably gummed up and sticking

Ford recommends MERCON for some transmissions and MERCON V for others. Make sure you get it right for the transmission you have, or you may be buying a new transmission sooner than you would have.

There is no such thing as DEXRON V.
