Question ? operating auto-trans w/4x4

Today I bought a 2000 F150 auto transmission with 4x4. I haven't yet got an owners/operator manual for it. The question arose today as to the correct position of the floor mounted stick shift that controls the operation of the 4 wheel drive. What is the proper position of the stick shift for normal city and freeway 2 wheel driving? Please don't laugh too much at me , I've never had a 4x4 with automatic transmission before. If anyone can point to a web site with information about this subject I will appreciate it.
Kelvin
P.S. I'm already in love with the truck!

Ok...the far setting towards the motor should be 4 low...then neutral...Next is 2 high and last is 4 high...You have to be stopped to go into 4 low...In mine I have the electic button and I have to stop..put foot on brake and tranmission in neutral before I shift into 4 low...But your setup has a neutral setting...I hope that's what you were asking...
