I would like to make my truck quicker, and by look at my truck's stats and pics, you can see there is not a whole lot I can do without getting a V8.

So I was wondering if I could make my I6 quicker by just putting maybe a nice automatic mustang tranny in it or something. But if I do this would I have to cut a hole in the floor for the shifter? If so I would probably get a nice shift kit for it, as long as i can find one with the long shaft or whatever I would need to bring it up to hand level. Obviously my trans is almost 20 years old and is one of the few things left stock on my truck, so i'm sure it doesn't have much life left in it. I'm hoping that it goes on me soon if I get some postive input for a mustang trans.

Besides the trans, I know that new gears or a new rear would help, so i'm not sure what I will do
