tranny dumped fluid big time

I just put a motor in my 97 F150, 5.4L and drove it around town for about 25 miles. First time I take it on the freeway it it starts dumping trans fluid out of the front of the tranny. When I stop it's just pouring out of the trans, it's an E40D. Is this an obvious case of the front seal going south? I don't have a history of the vehicle since I bought it with a blown motor. Any ideas?

if its coming out the top its probably from the vent in the tranny meaning it was overfilled.

If it's coming out the bottom of the bell housing area, it's probably the front main seal. When I have any tranny separated from the engine, I always replace the front main seal; it's a good trick to save mucho work.
