FTVB!!

B&M and Transgo both make good kits. I installed a B&M and used the 4x4/Heavy Duty setting. The other choice was Street/Strip/Race setting. 4-5 hours to install and have not regretted a minute of the time it took. GREAT shifts, quick and firm.
Heard good things about the FTVB and their customer support. Good Luck. |
so the F.T.V.B does it have good hard shifts, and good downshifts?
|
ohh and another Q, i have hyperteck tuning set to firm shifts would i have to change that or could i use it in conjunction with the FTVB does any one know?
|
i believe both would be to harsh!!
|
the problem is the hyperteck tuner was stolen when my truck got brocken into so i have no way of changing it with the tuner unless i get it flashed back to stock and i dont want to spend the money to do that, the tuner didnt firm them up that much, i just want to know if it could damage anything

the transgo kit has 3 different stages with the kit so you could start at the lowest and work your way up,plus its alot cheaper since you do it yourself

max what combo were you using on your last truck? i want to use the FTVB because i have heard so many good things, by harsh do you mean really hard shifts? becase that is what i want i just dont want it to damage the tranny transfer or any thing else on the drive line

On my 2000 4R70W I installed a Baumann Engineering shift kit on setting 4B. It was 1-5 settings, an additional "supercharge" setting, and a "large" spring for what they call "passenger punishing". At the same time, I installed both Sonnax valves. I combined that with a standard Superchip program. Without the chip, it was snappy, but not harsh. With the chip, it was definately hard. It was second gear chirps at anything over 1/4 throttle at the 1-2 shift. I would say it created the maximum firmness needed for any street application. I've installed many shift kits in a variety of vehicles and I prefer the harder settings usually.
