03 auto tranny slipping from 1 to 2??

My 03 4.6 automatic is slipping pretty bad from first to second. It's not every time, sometimes it shifts good and hard. Also it will slip when it goes from 2-3 if I'm accelerating hard or having it under a load (driving uphill).

My friend has a 02 that has done this since he got his and he's got 85,000 miles on it now. It just doesn't seem right. Something seems out of adjustment to me.

Any ideas, or had similar problems?

2000 auto tran slipping

My 00 5.4 automatic is slipping pretty bad too from 2nd to 3rd. It doesn't do it every time either, but it's getting more consistent. Worst part is I only got about 56k miles on it and I'm looking at a rebuild already.

hope somebody knows whats up with that

There's no external adjustments on either the 4R70W or E4OD. Slippage is usually an internal problem. What condition is the fluid in? Clean? Dirty? Black and burnt? Is there any metal or other debris floating around in the pan?

edited to add: There may be a PCM update for it. Shoot me a VIN and I can check.

I checked and there's no applicable TSBs or SSMs for your concern. There's no recent relavent broadcast messages either. That's not to say that there isn't a PCM update; updates are sent via WDS updates and often times never show up as TSBs or SSMs. Unfortunately, the only way to be sure that you've got the latest calibration level is hooking up to the WDS at the dealer. Sorry dood :o

What condition is the fluid in?
