tranny swap question

tranny swap question

hi. im fairly new to the f150 thing but im helping a freind change the transmision in his 1990 inline 6 (it has overdrive). my question is: the tranny we are using is out of a crown vic (dont really know anything about the car) will it fit/ work???? any input would be apreciated since im not familiar with ford. thanx

I think the transmmission you are taling out is an E4OD, and the one in the Crown Vic is an AOD, AODE, or 4R70W, depending on what year the Crown Vic was. Any of those will be REALLY difficult to make work in the truck.

i doubt that transmission is correct for your vehicle
even if by some off chance you have a 6 cylinder with an aod (i don't think i've ever seen one )
the output shaft of the truck transmission is longer than that car
