M5OD strength?
The transmission will take some power and torque . I don't think it would be a good choice in a large truck such as a F250 but would be killer in a 1/2 ton with a 5.4 and a power adder .
As far as making it stronger , there are no after market parts that will make it stronger but the factory stuff is pretty good . I would put it up against an Automatic any day .

I have a M5OD in my 2002XL 4.2 RegCab 4x2. I'm not a big fan at all. The master slave assembly is very unreliable. Mine blew at 23,000 and they tend to do a repeat act. They are very prone to air and moisture in the line and have to be bled often. It is a long throw shifter it is soft and is not good for racing. In addition the synchro's are known for not meshing well. I have a problem with mine in first and third. Don't know why Ford uses this tranny I would have been happy as hell with a good old cable clutch like a Tremec.
Ford should have gone to an external slave. As for the tranny holding up to any power. Forget it. You will be picking up parts sooner than later. I am making about the same power as a 5.4 and I am on my second tranny. My truck weighs about the same as a 2wheel drive SD. I would love to get a better tranny but t he only option is a ZF from a Super Duty. Untill I lifted the body 3 inches there was not enough room to fit it.
