Tranny install dificulty?

What is the difficulty level of installing a E4OD tranny in my for club wagon van?
and If I have someone do it for me what is a descent price if I buy the tranny and just have a shop install it?
Thanks

It's not so much hard, it's awkward. E4OD/4R100s are *big* transmissions, they're long and heavy with a weird shaped pan that make them sit kinda uneven on a jack, so you gotta build up a flat platform with some 2x4s to even it up and make it somewhat stable. I'm not sure on a van, but I know on a '97+ pickup or SUV, the exhaust has to come down which can be a bear if the right converter slip joint (where it joins up with the muffler) is rusted up. I think 6-8 hours labor is fair for R&R and flushing the cooler lines.

Northern Tool has a tranny jack that adapts to your floor jack.
