Exclamation Hard Accelerating Jolt

I just got a '01 SCrew Lariet and it is simply an awesome truck. The first time I drove it though, and everytime thereafter, when you accelerate at any kind of quickness from a stop, after hitting about 30 the transmission, or so i think is where the problem lies, has a pretty large sudden jolt. I didn't think much of it at first, then it kept doing it so now I am getting worried that i may have a big problem on hand. Any suggestions on what that jolt might be? and any suggestions on what i can do to fix it aside from a new transmission. I am going to drain the transmission fluid tomorrow and see if there was any metal or dust in the fluid. hopefully that will help some. But still any suggestions would be great.

Any chance that it is chipped? Could someone have put a shift kit in it?

I already checked it out to see if there was anything that could have been added, there is no sign anywhere that i could see, aside from pulling out the transmission. . . , that would show any other work don to it

If there's a chip or shift kit, you'll probably feel it on all upshifts. If it's only happening on 1-2 or 2-3 upshift, you could possibly have a broken spring in either the 1-2 or 2-3 accumulator piston (whichever upshift it's happening in). If so, it's a fairly simple and inexpensive fix to do yourself. The 1-2 can be done by just dropping the pan, the 2-3 involves removal of the valve body to get to it.

My wifes 02 Explorer with 46k miles was doing that the other day and today it is in the shop getting a new tranny. Thank goodness I have the warranty.

As the Service Manager put it after checking the tranny, "It fell apart and is in peices."

Sounds somewhat like my problem that no one can figure out. The only thing different about mine is, it happens through all the gears and only when it's warmed up. It'll shift so hard the truck shakes and I'm afraid it's going to break a drive shaft and/or rip the new rear end to pieces. Mine was rebuilt a couple of years ago by a crap a$$ shop in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I'm still waiting to get the trans fluid changed out to see if that corrects the problem. I havent had a chance to yet. Already dreading doing the messy job too.

Need an idea where it is located.

01screw:

Serviced the tranny at 100,000 miles today. The 1-2 accumulator had a broken spring. Get this; it was broken in FOUR! I'll see how it responds this week.

Thanks for the insight 01screw.
