Help! Does Ford make a 5R55E pan with a drain plug?
I know this forum is for F-150 transmissions but I am desperate! This for my 99 Ranger 4WD. I was hoping Ford might make a pan for the 5R55E with a drain like the one for the 4R100 that can be substituted for the original pan in my 2000 Lightning. I don't need a fancy aftermarket aluminum pan, just one that has a drain plug. If ford doesn't make one, any other ideas?
Thanks for your reply, but I am asking about the transmission pan. The fram sure drain is an oil drain.
Perhaps asking here was a mistake but I thought I would try because I have gotten lots of useful information here about my Ford F-150 Lightning. I am desperate and I thought someone here who knows Fords might be able to help.
What I am asking for help with is a Ford Ranger 5 speed automatic transmisson, transmission is model 5R55E. On the 5R55E there is no drain plug in the factory transmission pan. I need a pan that has a drain but I do NOT want to spend $170 for a fancy aluminum racing pan. I ONLY want the ability to drain fluid without all the mess.

What I did instead of replacing my pan with a new one with a drain plug was drill a hole for the Sure Drain and bought a properly sized nut to go on the inside of the pan. The Sure Drain has a hose that opens the drain as you screw it onto the fitting, so you can drain the fluid straight into the drain pan or an old jug with no mess.
You may not find a pan for that trans with a drain. My setup works very well for the money ($12.47 for the Sure Drain 1 at Wal Mart and $0.29 for the nut).
