Question change or flush fluid?

Because I have a shudder problem in my 1993 f150 xlt, with e4od. (87,000 MI). I'm thinking of changing the transmission fluid. I wanted to do this because I have tird everything else I can think of.
But what I want to know is with this amount of miles, should I change the fluid old school or have it flushed completely?
I have heard of the problems a flush could cause.
I bought this truck 3 weeks ago and I don't know if the previous owner ever did one, but the fluid is still pretty red.
Shudder happens at top of 3rd gear and in OD when I level off pedal. But it's not always consistent. Sometimes it runs fine.

1993 F150
engine: 302
Trans: E4OD
Mileage: 87,000

Truck sat for about 6 months before sold, previous owner passed away.

Thanks foks!!

no, it shakes after leveling off pedal in OD and then accelerating.
Its not totally consitent though. Yesaterday it didn't do it when I took it to the dealer i bought it from. (of course)
But it does chatter slightly, which i am a little concerned with also.

I was having the same problem. I drained the torque converter and the pan. My 4R100 uses Mercon, so I replaced the fluid w/Mobil 1 synthetic. Problem solved, no more shudder.
