i got a 99f150 5.4 and cruzen at 64 mph 1800 rpm im top gun up aganist any other truck just got to floor it and it takes off like a fnn rocket(hold on martha) but only lasts till it hits 4500rpm then my darn vw is faster!!!!!! no its not a tranny problem!!!
i need a something like shift kit but i dont want to do any pan droppen ya know!! does any one know a sollution for my problem please help!!!!

 

You lost me in the way you said it, but I'm guessing you are hitting the speed governor. You said you are going 65 then go until 4500 rpm.

It's been forever since I've hit the stock speed governor, but I think it kicks in around 95. Get a chip or a microtuner and you will be able to remove it.

 

The Microtuner will take care of the shifts as well as the speed limiter. Best $$$ you will ever spend on your rig.

 

gov.limter??? not the problem unless you think this tells the tranny what rpm to shift at and at what speed! huhauhauhuauhauhauhuahuhauhahuauh ok now here i go ill try again. if im cruzen @ above 65 mph / lets say 68 mph for poop & giggles my rpmS are going to read uuuuuuuuuuh 2200 rpm then my grama cruzes up next to me and says heyyy lets race
she floors it I floor it she bets me because she's driving my vw!! at my speed the cr_py tranny dosent know that i want to drop to 3rd and pull all the way up to 5000 + rpm then shift/NOT GO to 4TH AND PULL LIKE MY HORSE PULLS DA WAGON AND GIVE UP AT 4500 RPM.

I have the 01 Expy 5.4. I just tuned it with the Superchips microtuner and used the Superchips shift point options. I noticed the same thing you were talking about, now it's much better. Not ideal, but much better.

 

I cant help but get the feeling that I know 5.4MAN from somewhere ................................
