Pressure Plate install

First post, thanks for listening.

I am working on a 97 F-150 with a 4.2v6 and a 5sp. Changing the clutch out and everything was done with ease until I tried to put the tranny back on to the engine. I changed the Clutch, Pressure Plate, Pilot Bearing, Flywheel resurfaced, and the slave cylinder in the tranny. Now the problem arises when I try to mount the tranny up to the engine, it seems as though the Throwout bearing is hitting the fingers on the pressure plate way too early. With this happening I can't manuever the tranny into the pilot bearing far enough for the input shaft to even engage. I had the guy at the machine shop set the springs on the pressure plate and the flywheel on a Hydraulic Press and the springs are set to 35/64 of an inch long(I was told that was the correct length for them). Does anybody have any ideas why I am having so much trouble with this.

Do the fingers on the pressure plate move closer to the flywheel when the spring tension is raised on the pressure plate?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Have done many trannies on Mustangs but never on a Hydraulic Setup.

Thanks

Did you get the right parts? Mis labeled box? Compair the old slave/bearing to the new one. Is the new one longer? I am guessing that you left the tranny in gear and did turn the output shaft on the tranny to ling up the splines of the input shaft and the clutch disk?
