Question What Torque Converter For 4R100?

Looking for recommendations for a replacement torque converter for a 4R100. Anybody with an aftermarket recommendation? FACTORY_TECH, you posted a reply in another thread recommending a Navigator TC for a 4EOD. What's your advice on a replacement for the 4R100/5.4L?

Thanks in advance.

Mike

The Navi is a good converter, basically stock compared to the one it come with (5K difference, about 100 RPM stall higher) but built better, it has brazed internals and a roller bearing on the impeller hub instead of a thrust washer. If you want to elevate the stall a little, I have one someone ordered for an Expy, and then he never called back after I built it. It'll stall about 500 higher than stock, all brazed impeller and turbine and has a phenolic surface on the impeller hub, which works better and is stronger than a torrington bearing. Anyhow, if you want it, it's in the shop ready to ship, I'll let it go for $400, plus shipping, NO CORE required.

Let me know,

G

The Navi converter is 1L7Z-7902-BARM I think, they run about $250 from the dealer with exchange.

Gregg,

We just spoke on the phone about a Navi TC from the dealer for my 4R100. Would I do better with the one you have w/ the +500 stall? What would be the pluses and minuses? i.e. gas mileage etc?

Thanks again for taking the time to discuss this eve.

Regards,

Mike
