Dumb question?(no such thing, I know)

Hello all, I haven't been on this site in about 3 years now, I used to have the user name jeff3021, but apparently that has been taken. Anyhow, as stated previously, I am out of the loop. I had to sell my 98' SC 4X4 to purcahse a Ranger!!! I had a 60 mile one way commute and the gas milage just wasn't cutting it. So in December I ran across a deal on a 2000 (35,000 miles) Expedition I couldn't pass up and snagged it, gas milage be damned!! It is loaded to the gills and has the 4.6L, I had the 4.6L in my old truck and was very impressed with it's reliability and smoothness after some modifications. Needless to say, I'm ready to jump back into "hopping" my transportation back up to proper levels. I always like to start with the tranny> I am not sure if my ride has the ole' 4R70W or another tranny, as I said it has been a while. Whats the prper ID. mothod?
Thanks and keep on crankin' that Ford blue!!

The 4.6L Expy will have a 4R70W transmisison. The code on the vehicle certification label will be "U".

Cool

HI!... Actually the TRANSGO shift kit is the BEST to install in the 4R70-W tranny.
