trans to transfer case

Hi all I have quick question?
I am swapping out my 4.2 to a 4.6 bought a complete
truck for the change over. The truck I bought is a 2 wd
ext cab and my other is a regular cab 4x4. Will I have to get
another trans to line up to the tranfer case or will the one out of
the ext cab line up? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since the truck your installing the 4.6 in is a 4 wheel drive, you'll have to get a transmission for a 4 wheel drive. The transfer case will not bolt to the 2 wheel drive transmission.

You'll have to change the whole transmission. The 4.2L and the 4.6L engines have different rear face of block bolt patterns. The V6 transmission will not bolt to the V8 engine.
