HELP! tranny is going crazy
ok the tranny in my 1999 expedition was slipping a few weeks ago, i changed the tranny fluid ( full flush) and it has been fine, then today i pull into a drive way and i go to back out and the truck wont go into reverse, after about 3 min of trying to get the truck to back up it finally does and stalls out, i start it and it stalls 4 more times before i get out of the drive way. then i put it into drive and it stalls again, i start it up and start to move forward and the o/d light starts blinking and wont stop. now if i start from a dead stop first and second gear wind like i have a supercharger on the truck... and if/when it shifts gears it is a very hard shift what do i do? what is causing the light to blink? anything i can to do solve this my self? the truck has no warrenty at all and ive just been laid off so buying a new tranny is out
I saw from your other post about this that, Gregg Evans thought your clutches were burned. That may very well be the case here. But since you don't have the money to replace the transmission, may want to do a little investigating. Ford does have a TSB for the 4R100 stalling in when you put the transmission in drive or reverse. It states that he filter may have fallen out of the valve body. I would check that as well as all of the electrical connections to the transmission. Disconnect each of the outside terminals to make sure they are not corroded. I had a problem with the wiring harness on my transmission that caused it to slip in 2nd gear.
If you can actually drive, try to get to a transmission shop that can read the error code stored in the computer. The O/D light is flashing because there is a fault. Ford charges 1 hour labor to read the codes, but most independent transmission shops will do a free diagnosis and tell you what the code is.
That sound that you hear could be the pump sucking air because the filter is laying at the bottom of the pan. I really hope that's all this is
