Recommended service interval?

I'm a new owner of a used 2002 4x4 Screw and I've got some questions. Please forgive me if this is common knowledge.

I bought the truck used with just a little over 33K. The service guide in the owners manual is a little vague about whether the transmission fluid should be changed at 30K. Anyone know what Ford recommends?

Also what about the transfer case, front and rear diff?

Thanks.

Cool

Welcome to F150 Online. This place will help you more than just about any other resource you can find.

There is a moderator here named "RockPick" who I believe can give you a link to where you can download the Ford Owners and Service manuals for your truck, if you need them.

Anyway, I pulled this from the Haynes manual for our trucks:

Every 30,000 miles or 24 months, whichever comes first -

1. Replace air filter

2. Service the cooling system (drain, flush and refill)

3. Change the automatic transmission fluid and filter (Ford does not state that the transmission filter must be changed. However, for $15 or so, I always do)

4. Change brake fluid

Also, at 30,000 you should lubricate the chassis and replace the fuel filter.

The transfer case and rear differential fluids should be changed at 60,000 miles or 48 months, whichever comes first. The front differential is not mentioned specifically, but I would guess that it should be changed when the rear fluid is changed.

Again, this is from the Haynes manual, not the Ford manual.

Hope this helps.

Good luck and congrats on your "new" 'Screw.

B-Man: Thanks for the info out of the Haynes manual. The service guide that came with my owner's manual does not specifically list the transmission at 30K, but I've usually done this with my other vehicles.

I'll need to get my hands on a service manual soon.

I used to dump mine in the 01 F150 every 15,000 miles, but since I got my Stang, I change it every 10,000 miles.
