Question Transmission maintenance?

Just wondering how many people do the flush and fill on a regular basis. Without looking at the book...approx every other year???

Would doing a regular fluid change be good preventative maintenance practice?

How about rear differential fluid? I don't believe mine has been changed since it was "born" in '97 (bought truck used in '00). Would it be a good idea to change it as well?

Thanks...

I figure I'd do mine every two. I don't tow but I do put on a fair amount of miles...lots of it stop and go.

Glad to hear that you like the LubeGuard. It took care of my trans shudder and it's not yet returned. Perhaps I should get some stock in the company.

What differences did you feel with the LubeGuard?

Some people say changing the tranny fluid is a waste of money. My feeling is that a 60 to 80 dollar fluid change every 30kmi is very cheap insurance. for a ??$1500+?? tranny. I like to drop the pan drain the TC and change the filter.

I make sure the fluid is changed after the first two years. I may or may not change it again after that.

I'm with Tiger on this one.

If I have to drop a bit of change on the tranny to keep it happy, then so be it.

If I just lay off a couple of beers a month...then it's paid for in a couple years!
