new noises from 5 speed tranny

I have noticed new noises coming from the shifter area. 1997 F150 5 speed 4WD. Ford dealer heard noise also but found no metal shavings in fluid. Any advise?

Could you be a little more specific? Do these noises only happen when shifting, or are they constantly noticeable? Is it a grinding sound? A clunking sound? Just be a little more clear and you'll probably get good responses.

rylanj,

If you have the manual shift on the fly when it makes this noise reach down and hold the 4x4 lever. If the noise stops that is what was causing it. If you don't have a manual lever then it is probably a mount or inside the case cover.
