Question Gear indicator slipage

has anyone encounterd a problem with the gear indicator on the dash column? Mine 'slipped'; now when the truck is in Drive, it says it is in 2nd...any ideas how to fix it? I have a 98 4x4 with the 4.6L.

Thanks for any help!

You might try adjusting it using the little threaded barrel underneath the drivers side dashboard. If you look under the dash to the right of the steering wheel you will see a black adjusting wheel. If you turn this, it moves the indicating needle. Hopefully this will solve your problem

Well, I checked under the dash and it turns out that the small plastic bracket that holds the adjusment **** is broken! Where in the heck would I get one of those and how difficult are they to replace? I would hate to go to the dealer and pay over 100 bucks for a five minute job!

BTW Yankee...thanks for the information.
