Speedo Recallibrator

Who makes aftermarket speedo recallibrators to use in a 98 F-150. Number is way off with new gears now. I know that guys like Hypertech and Superchips make them but I don't need the performance stuff...just an electronic recalibrator. Thanks

It is a 4X4 if this helps with the electronic dash selector. 4.6 liter motor.

You are going to need to get a vehicle speed sensor (VSS) gears from the dealer to recalibrate your speedo with a 97 or 98 F150. Only 99s and up are recalibrated electronically. The gear will cost between $7-$12. There is a formula you use when going from stock gears to re-grearing (i.e, 3.55 to 4.10s). You will use this formula to get a number by which you will multiple the number of teeth on your current VSS gear to determine the number of teeth that you should have on the new gear to get the speedo back in line. Unfortunately, I don't know the formula but I know I have seen it one the board in the past. Try a search for 'gears'. If that fails, hopefully one of the smart guys out there will jump in and help you out. Good luck.

You need to go up 1 tooth for every step in gears, i.e. 3.55 to 3.73, 1 tooth higher, 3.55 to 4.10, 2 teeth higher etc.
