firmer shift problem

Has anyone had trouble with their E40D/4R100
trans after firming up the shifts with an electronic aftermarket chip or tuner? Factory Tech says firmer shifts via a software change will cause trans failure after an extended period of time.
I've got a Banks Trans-Command that increases line pressure elcetronically and he says that's bad. I've got a 97 Expy with the 5.4 and tow pkg.
Thanks.

I asked a Banks Technical Engineer about the problem Factory Tech described in his response under the thread "line pressure how much is too much". He said he is unfamiliar with how other manufacturers (Hypertech, Superchip, etc) achieve the firmer shifts with software changes. He explained to me in technical terms how the Trans-Command raises line pressure in a fashion that does not cause the problem Factory-Tech explained. I'm not a tech wizard and can't explain it back to you guys and be accurate. The Trans-Command is required by Banks when any of their turbo-diesel upgrades are installed. The diesels are pulling heavier loads and pushing a lot more torque through the transmissions than we are with our gas engines. He said the Trans-Command has been around for over 15 years without showing signs of causing premature failures.
I asked him specifically about the 4R100 and he said they haven't seen the problem described by Factory-Tech with their units.
I'll let you know if I have problems with my transmission after installing the Trans-Command. I've had it on for almost a year now. No problems yet.

Hey Davet~

You might want to post this in the computer chips forum; talk to Mike (SUPERCHIPS DISTRBUTOR) about the program. He is the most versed on the subject. He's a cool guy!
