Question Trans Fluid change & when?????

I'm sure there is already a post on this...but I cant find it....so I'm going to ask.

How often do you change the fluid in your automatic transmission?? When you do change the fluid do you do a flush or do you just drain the tranny and converter and replace the filter? I hear good and bad things about a flush.

I have a 2003 F150 SuperCrew 4X4 with the 5.4L. It is new but I'm trying to get an idea of good service intervals. The manual doesnt recommend fluid change until the 90K mark...that seems a bit long. I never changed the fluid in my 98' F150 for 134K and I started having transmission problems....want to avoid this in my new truck.

Thanks!

intervals

I think your manual recommends every 30K. My 1997 and 2000 said 30K. I can't honestly say that my 2002 manual says so, but if I had to guess.......

Same engine and trans.
