Angry tranny oil temp sensor

93 F150 2wd 351 with a4od tranny (I think) My check engine light came on and I checked and found a code for TOT and one for the EGR. I want to fix the tranny first, is this an easy fix?? Or do I need to get robbed at the dealer?
I got these codes out 2 months ago and tonight on the way home the check engine light came back on. I was driving about 65-70 mph in overdrive, flat to small hills. thanks in advance

Did you get a code for exessive heat? If that's the case you may have some slippage in OD thats generating the heat. OR you may have some fluid circulation issues such as a clogged filter or lines.

Is the fluid level ok? Does it smell burnt or look discolored? (it should be red)

When is the last time you changed the ATF? A good flush and filter change may help.

Hope this helps. Been dealing with the same stuff myself lately !

I just bought the truck three months ago with 68,000 miles. I am planning on a coplete flush and filter change and maybe shift kit too! If I remember the code was that the computer was not getting a reading from the TOT sensor. I do not have the time to do ths so I might take it to a tranny shop.

I've seen this code many times, it is often a result of the trans not being at operating temp when it was scanned. Try it again after it is warm.

I will run a scan again later but I am going to change the oil and filter on the tranny, I am sure it needs it and since I will be towing this summer with it. I will keep you posted as to what I find. Brian
