ATF Recommendations
synthetic blend
When they say it's a synthetic blend, what percent is accually synthetic and what is dino?
I know that synthetic has better heat properties and it sounds like also heat transfer properties. So how much are you accually gaining with a blend over the dino?

If your going to be towing this summer, I wouldn't mess around with ATF! I'd invest in some Red Line D4 ATF, which is fully warrenty and 4r-70w tranny compatible. I have 17,000 mi. on my truck and I have the extended Ford warrenty...my Ford dealer...the owner of the family owned business, uses the stuff himself. There is no way that a supreme quality ATF will void your warrenty. Another benefit, as I see it, is that you have better thermal protection and break down protection during times of stress (i.e. towing).
If not Red Line, go with Amsoil, or some other reputable brand; just make sure that the fluid meets all of Ford's 4r-70w requirments.
Good luck.

Thanks again for the advise. Lot a Redline supporters here, so it wouldn't hurt me to at least get a price on the fluid.
As I don't tow, rarely haul anything and max would be < 500lbs, and I drive like a grandma, I think the synthetic blend is the way to go. I'm also a poor bastard, so paying $10 per quart is out of the question, but if I can get Redline for ~$5 that would be great.
Thanks again guys!

It's usually between $7-8 per qrt. depending on where you are. Red Line is actually less expensive in the long run because you don't change the fluid half as often. Red Line has stated that you can run their ATF for 45,000 mi., so after 30,000 mi. it pays for itself! If you use a regular Mercon V, make sure to change it every 15,000 mi. esp. if you are towing. Either way you'll be okay!
Good luck.
