Loose rear end?

I have a 97 f150 4x4 standard cab with 117,000 miles. Motors runnin strong, but it seems the rear end seems a little loose when I give it gas from a stopping position. Also, when i make turns from a stop position, it feels loose. After the 5mph zone, everything shifts fine. I don't know how else to explain it. I don't know if its a big deal or if its just normal wear, but maybe someone hear has a similar prob?

Just a guess here but maybe what you're feeling is the slip yoke on the driveshaft binding up?? Try giving it a few squirts of grease and see if it helps, it sure wont hurt.

Good luck.

I have what sounds like the same problem. What trany do you have? I have the 5-speed. Taking off in first, it feels like something is binding, then when taking off in first, it gives a little bump, or unbinding, and the truck shifts fine. How do you check a tranny mount? That's what I think mine is, but with all this snow, I am too lazy to swap one out. Good luck, I will keep you posted.
