Makes me Frustrated!

Ok, I have a question for you all. I have a '97 F150 4.6L Lariat, Ext Cab, short box (see sig for mods). One thing that frustrates me since I have owned the truck is the way it shifts when in overdrive on cruise control. Example, I am driving down the interstate at 75 mph (with cruise approx 2200 RPM) and come up on an average grade of hill, what I would like to see happen in the torque converter kick off to get up it, but what usually happens is the truck shifts all the way into 3rd gear and runs up to about 3200 RPM for about 2 seconds kicks into OD, then kicks back to 3rd for another 2 seconds then again back to OD. It only stays in 3rd for such a short amount of time because there is so much power it only takes that second to get back to speed with the cruise setting.
Now if I keep cruise off and go up the same hill with my foot I can make it about 3/4 the way up the hill, the torque converter kicks off, runs to about 2600 RPM and makes it up the hill @ 75 MPH with no problem. Much more smoother less annoying ride and only one shift till I make it to the top, not 2 or sometimes 3 shifts on one hill with cruise.

So my question after all that (sorry so long) is, Is this a normal experience, or is there something wrong with my cruise. I am thinking that with all the mods I have done and HP gained I would have elliminated this problem, but it is the same ol stuff since my truck was stock! I have gained more power in every area except for when I drive like this.
Lastly since I have the Superchips Microtuner is there something I can do with the shift points or pressures that will stop this, or do those categories not affect what I am describing?

Sorry so long of a post, but thanks for all who read through it and reply.

Yah, it happens. On the bright side, at least you're smarter than the cruise control. It just says need more throttle. Really for a small amount of extra $$, compared to some things, I think they could make a smarter cruise. An engine tranny combo that bled toruqe a little would also help. Instead the tranny and engine seem to want to run with just barely enough rpm & torque to get the job one. Prolly a fuel economy issue.

I think using the micro tuner to jack up the shift points would help immensely. I'd like a set of 4 dials than I could adjust the shift points imdpendently and continuously. But have never seen such a thing. Should eb cheaper than a utuner.

cruise

it sounds normal. they do make a smarter one, only on the PS diesel which is controled by fuel pulse with and not with a servo.
