Question E40D to C-6

I am looking to replace my E40D with a new reb, C-6
Has anyone online done this before... I have a feeling I am going to have fun with the computer but it will be better than that junk tranny... Anyone with info please pass it along...
I have a 91 Ford F-150 2wd with a straight 6...

Wht kind of problems are you having with the E4OD? IT's a better box, in fact, from the center support down it's more or less a C-6 anyway. You will have some problems with the computer, it's going to be looking for the signal from the transmission.

C-6 Swap

I am also thinking of swapping my E4od for a C-6. I have a 96 f-150 4x4 5.8 liter. I am going to make a call to a friend at a trans shop to see if it is feasible. I need to know if my transfer case will bolt up and if the C-6 is the same length as the E40d so I dont have to change the driveshafts. My E40d wont shift into second gear if the Overdrive is left on. If I turn it off, it shifts normally. I prefer hydraulic shift over electric anyway. the E40d is an expensive trans to rebuild and it doesnt seem to have the durability of the C-6. I will let you know what my friend says.

Factory_Tech, is true that the e4od is basically the same as the c6? If so, then can't we build an e4od to be as tough as he c6?
