Need some advice

How does a stall torque converter actually work, I mean when you are at the drag strip and you have a 2400rpm stall converter, do you have to do anything special to get the benefits of having a stall converter, do you have to hold the brakes and rev the engine up, or can you just mash the gas and take advantage of the stall converter?
And what type of aftermaket tranny cooler should I get? Derale, Perma Cool, FAL, ... and what size?

Cool

To allow a big cam motor to rev higher before actually driving the rear wheels hard, a stall converter simply "slips" (for lack of a better term) up to the approximate RPM it is rated for. The idea is if you are running a big cam, you don't make power until you are higher up in the RPM range so you need the "slip" until you are revved up. An interesting fact is that the more torque you apply to a converter, the higher it's stall speed is. If you want more stall speed, make your engine put out more torque !!

You don't want a high stall for everyday driving. That "slipping" action also heats the fluid up and will wreck what little MPG you get now.

If you don't have a decent cam engine, a stall will provide little or no benefit to your truck's performance.

Well I am going to upgrade the factory cooler to a better one, once I find out which one I should use. I am also getting a custom built 12" 2200RPM stall converter w/ lock up function, I cant wait, it also has a higher torque multiplication # than the stock one, I think he said 2.53 to 1 and stock is 1.93 to 1.
