I have a 2003 150 Lariat w/5.4L V8. My father and I own a 20ft Seahunt boat that we trailer to Barneget Bay. I was wondering if I need/should install a shift kit for towing the boat.

The slugglish shifts scare me and I don't want to damage the tranny towing the boat.

Is the stock tranny going to withstand the pressure I put on it without a shift kit???

 

A microtuner and/or shift kit will, of course, improve the operation of your trans. But a 20' boat is Nothing for your truck to pull.
