Deep Trans Pan from PML (yourcovers.com)

Anyone have a transmission pan or differential cover from these guys? www.yourcovers.com Look like good parts and just wondering if anyone has used them. I want to get the trans pan and the differential cover. They are coming out with one for the 9.75 rear end this summer.

Galaxy,

I haven't used them, but I've also found them in researching a tranny pan for my 4R70W. They look very nice. If you have the 9.75 they may be the way to go. I think the only other cover is the Mag Hytec. And if I'm not mistaken they are around $200. So if their pricing is competitive I'd say go for it. I've got the Trick Flow Cover for my 8.8

I think I'm going with the B&M deep pan though for my 4R70W. PML's design doesn't have the step on the rear to help gold the filter in place. And I think the pricing is relatively the same anyway.

Good Luck,

John

What do you mean by a step to help hold the filter in place? Is that something on the inside bottom of the pan?

On the 4R70W Transmission the rear of the filter is supported by the bottom of the pan. It helps it from slippng out of the valvle body by supporting some of the filters weight. If you look at the rear of your 1/4 of the pan it is somewhat angled upwards.

When you go to a deep pan style you lose some of that support. If you look on the PML site at the GM style pan it is more angeled up in the rear. I thought the maker I was going with was B&M but in looking at their picture it isn't angeled at all. I think Hughes performance makes one similar.

Tranny Type

If you have the 4R100 tranny you may want to check out the lightning forum. One of the guys over there did a new Ford Racing Pan and it looks SWEET!! Do a search on Transmission pan for the L Forum only and you should be able to find it.

I got a letter from PML about there 4R70W pan. You know how the stock pan has a lower portion right in the center of the pan? Well, that's were the pick up sits. The PML pan is the same depth across the whole pan as that sump. So, the filter goes untouched and still has the same support as the stock pan without a need for any extensions or stuff like that.

COOL

Galaxy,

Good news. I may go that route too. I think you have to use the 4X4 Filters with that app. It has a longer filler neck. I think B&M uses a filter neck extension.

Oh yes, good point. The PML guy did tell me that. If you buy there deep pan you need a 4X4 filter. If you already have a 4X4, you are set. No extensions or any trick set ups needed.

FRPP Pan

Ford Racing for 2003 is making a deep aluminum pan for the 4R70W. Part # is M7195-T. I think this is the one I'm going with.

Confusion Reigns!!!

That part # turns out to be for the 4R100 after all. Anyway I think I'm going with the PML too. I can't decide between the powdercoated or natural finish. She's going to try and e-mail me a picture of the powdercoated one so I can make a decision.

Which one are you going with? I just got the pic of the black pan, check the link. It looks great!!!

I think I'm leaning toward the black crinkle finish. I was going to get a Mag-Hytec rear end cover so wanted to get a pan to match but then found out PML is coming out with a cover for the 9.75 rear end. Lot's cheaper than Mag-Hytec...COOL. I actually talked to the guys at PML about their pans and really liked talking to them and what they had to say. Very knowledgable about their products.

PML holds 2 extra quarts, B&M holds 3, not sure about Ford Pan.

John

PS - Got my PML on Thursday and it's extremely well made!! Very thick and solid.
