Question Custom Trailer made from bed of Truck

I'm looking for a custom built trailer that is made from the bed of a late model ford pu. I want to match it to my 03 SCrew for hauling stuff that won't fit in the short bed. Anyone have one? Any ideas where to get one?

Many Beds and Moons, and a custom trailer.

Are you wanting just the rear of a truck turned into a trailer?

Big trailer! Yes, basically what I'm wanting to do is find an 02-03 that has been totaled with a wicked hit to the front end. Rip the cab off and cut the frame about 2' in front of the bed. Find someone who has actually built a trailer, have them put a tongue on it, have it painted to match my truck, same tires etc, then have it line-x'd. Then I can haul all of the stuff I need to haul without having to take my topper off, get the bedrug nasty etc.

I'd think twice about wanting to use the truck frame. It sounds like you want this to kinda be a 'show' piece as well. All the 'backyard' truck bed trailers I've seen that have used the trucks original frame look pretty bad....... (well, to me anyway )

I know that they get the job done and if that's all you are looking for, then great. Economy and function is more of a priority then looks. Nothing wrong with that. I've just seen ugly bed trailers and I've seen nice ones. The nice ones all have custom frames, straight tube axles and ride at the proper height to complement the truck. They also have a nice big "A" frame and mount a diamond plate tool box up there too. Seems to break up the totally flat front area of the bed. Also, try to keep the stock bumber too. Just adds to the looks as well. (IMO )

Only place I know to pick up a bed would be a wrecking yard. I've seen them at the canapy lots too. They probably aren't too cheap either. Check out what a new one would cost to have something to compare to and then start shoping used. Ebay probably has a ton of them!

Good luck. Sounds like a cool project.

This guy did an awesome job building his pu bed trailer to match his truck.
