Want to feel good about that F150?

The next time someone rags at you for your gas hog, try this.

We got an offer for our 26 foot Prowler and will probably take it. So my wife says, "maybe we could get a new trailer that was lighter and we wouldn't need such a big truck."

So I go online to see what some smaller, more fuel efficient tow vehicles get for mileage and towing capacity. Nothing with a tow rating of more than 3500# gives us any more than 2-3 mpg! So why bother? Wife loves the F150 (its her's), tows like a dream, walks up walls (well, almost), and at a cost easily 7-8 K less than an Explorer!

The bottom line: we'd never make up the difference in gas mileage if we traded the truck off, and we'd still have to compromise on the new TT. I told wife just to relax when she fills up the tank.

Peace, Dennis

Dont buy a truck (of any brand) if you want a fuel economic vehicle!

Think about it... your pushing a 6000# box down the road at 75....

Sorry, mlaugh,

I hadn't ever added all the info on the truck (actually, wife's "chick" truck). After your post, I realized there are soooo many ways to put one of these together, saying I have an F150 is like saying I live in Minnesota (big state).

Peace, Dennis

I just came back from a 2 day racing sting in Iowa.
Over 700 miles round trip.
Averaged around 11.3 mpg the whole way.
Race car weighs 2800 pounds. The trailer, I don't have a clue, but it's an open style, wood top, bobtail.
We averaged 70+ mph, all the way down, and up, with a few in town excursions as well.
I cannot brag up enough how great this 97 handles/pulls compared to my previous 94 4.9 I had.
Love the 97!!!!!

97 F150, 2 wd, 5.4, auto, lowered 2/4, K&N filter, turbo muffler. (so far)........
